The Highway Commission was created by Chapter 337, Laws of 1911. State Laws of 1929 reorganized the commission from a five person, part-time agency to a three-person, full-time agency. With the reorganization of state government agencies in 1967 (Chapter 75), the Highway Commission was placed under the newly created Department of Transportation (see WIHV85-A1884). The Division of Highways (see WIHV85-A1885) of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (see WIHV85-A1884) became the Division of Highways and Transportation Facilities in 1979.
